Neurofeedback Can Help

When we experience anxiety and panic attacks, it’s often due to an overabundance of Beta (high frequency) brain waves causing a slight imbalance and leading to unwanted symptoms. Neurofeedback identifies and corrects these irregularities by introducing gentle, consistent corrections to the brain waves during each neurofeedback session.

Brain training through neurofeedback delivers enhanced brain function and reduces or eliminates negative symptoms of anxiety—leading to less worry, improved concentration and fewer or no panic attacks. Neurofeedback is a highly effective method of treating common neurological issues and improving the brain’s ability to function more efficiently.

Our expertly trained staff guides each patient through the neurofeedback treatment process.

How Does Neurofeedback Treat Anxiety?

Because neurofeedback is a non-invasive, reward-based training system, it may be better understood by comparing the process to training a puppy with positive reinforcement. When the puppy behaves well, and does what is expected, it gets a treat. But when the puppy behaves poorly, it gets a gentle correction. The correction isn’t harsh or punishing but sends a message to the puppy that the behavior is unwanted.

Like puppy training, during a neurofeedback session, a patient’s brain waves are consistently being rewarded for behaving in a healthy manner or gently corrected for irregularities. The corrections are often so gentle the patient doesn’t even recognize it—but the brain does. When we treat patients for anxiety, we measure and analyze Beta brain waves and customize a neurofeedback treatment plan to address the issues we identify. After multiple sessions, the brain is better able to regulate itself and balance brain waves. This improves negative or unwanted symptoms associated with anxiety, panic attacks and many other neurological conditions.

What Our Patients Are Saying

"At the age of 25, my son was in a horrible car accident and witnessed the passing of a dear friend. Ever since, he's become reclusive and practiced some very damaging addictive behaviors. He became agoraphobic, had panic attacks when out in public, couldn't communicate effectively because he developed a stutter in his speech, and even started to exhibit an ataxic gait.

"All the psychiatrists wanted to do was put him on medication, but we heard about Dr. Childress and neurofeedback from a friend. We went in for the free consultation, and for the first time, got very excited about the possibilities that lay ahead.

"Now, after a few months of treatment, he isn't afraid to go out in public, he can effectively communicate with strangers, and he can get a job because he isn't afraid to drive anymore. I don't know where we would be if we hadn't found Midwest Holistic Health, Dr. Childress and Ahmed. I can't thank you enough for giving me my son back."
